Yay for painting!

Ugh, I hate this party already, and it hasn’t even happened yet. I’ve gotten next to no time to paint while preparing for everyone coming in from out of town, cleaning, etc. Thankfully today I’ve been able to sit down and get a bit of work done.
Most of the fur on my Varghulf is now done — it just needs a final highlight, but I think I’ll hold off on that until I finish the skin. The skin needs a few more highlights (especially around the face) and the talons and other bony protrusions (teeth, back spines, etc) need to be painted. I just finished painting the eye and now I’m pondering whether or not to give a glow to the skin around it (like the masterclass Varghulf). I’m also not entirely certain that I like the coloring of the eye. I had originally wanted a red, but it just blends in too much with the rest of the model so — green. I tried to go for a catlike appearance, but I don’t really think “cat” when I’m looking at what I’ve done. Maybe it needs to be greener?
Also, I’m pondering the bony protrusions of the back. I’m not sure if I should paint them the same reddish brown as the wing / chest bones, or if I should go the same color as the talons (that’ll end up being a dirty, brownish ivory). Any opinions? ^___^
Edit: I started adding in some green highlights, and I don’t think I like it very much. To me, it looks like I was just messy with the brush when doing the eyes x.x

Eyes: cat like. It’s definite. I kinda dig the glowy bit too. The eye itself looks more yellow in the picks, whilst the glowy bits reflected in the folds around the eye are more greenish. I think this is entirely appropriate, as it would show the eye itself to be brighter, and the lightsource, and the effect fades out to a green as it works it’s way out. I think it is VERY important in this effect for the eye to remain brighter looking that the folds around the eye, even if the color is a little different. It really just looks like a slightly brighter hue from where I sit. If you want to green up the eye a bit you have my permission (how’s that for a laugh?), but I would be ever so gentle.
I would say match the spines ot the talons, absolutely. It will produce a little more contrast in the back, which you are going to be spending more time looking at as you play. I would suggest matching the teeth to it as well, initially, and then over highliting them to make them look more recently used and a bit like he knocked some of the funk off as he was knawing his last bone or… whatever.
I see that we agree about highlights in the face. I just dakka’ed this so, I’m continuing here.
I like the fact that his fur has come out so light. All the time models are so dark unless they are some kinda Bret Knights painted up to look like the Rainbow Warriors. I like something with some contrast and some lightness to the overall arm’s length look.
However, only lizards are allowed to be eye-stabbingly bright.
