Bwahaha

August 21st, 2008 by Missy

nanoI really well and truly have the greatest husband ever. Either that, or I married the greatest sucker ever. It didn’t even take a day of looking sad to net myself a new iPod Nano! Now I just need to send my sweet darling out after work tomorrow to get me a Nike+ sensor and receiver and I’ll pretty much be set! Dan has pointed out that I don’t really need to wear an armband since the the 3rd generation nanos are solidstate or something, I can wear it on a belt around my waist and not have to worry about it bouncing around too much. Now I just need to figure out how to put a Nike+ tracker on my website or something so that I can feel shamed into working out and running faster, since everyone will be able to see it!

To be honest, iPod Nanos have always been solid state (which is why capacity is so much smaller), though, really, the iPod (1st Gen through Video, and now “Classic”, since the Touch is solid state also) has a 1.6″ hard drive, and it aggressively caches, so the chances of you getting head scratches on the platters are fairly low (since the heads dock when it’s not seeking).

Does this mean there’s an 80GB video up for grabs? I’ve been living with a 4GB solid-state player since my iPod Video got swiped about a year ago =/

Jesus, it’s like a course in iPods. And I see that 80GB model didn’t stay in the unused pile for long. What’s the battery life on those things like? I have the Creative Labs Zen Stone, and it’s a pretty good mp3 player, but the battery life doesn’t get through even half of the 2 gb of usic it holds. What the hell is the use?

  3. Missy Says:

Yeah, just about everything Dan or Ryan says is a course in something (they’re twins, btw).

And yes, the 80GB is up for grabs if you want it. I was just going to sell it, but if you’re in need then I’d be perfectly happy to pass it along your way.

The battery life is pretty long — 20 hours or something of continuous play?

Sounds like Ryan has dibs on that. I’ve recently gone on a toy binge myself here recently, so I shall just have to go music-less for a while after I washed my last one. Again. I’m seeing a pattern here.

Not that I’m really expecting to get an iPod for free (I’d certainly pay whatever the going rate for an 80GB iPod is on eBay/CraigsList)…

Oh Ryan, I’d never charge you for something I have lying around ^_^ Just send me your new address and I’ll mail it out.
