Worst blogger ever.

May 30th, 2008 | Category: General, Warhammer, World of Warcraft

No, really, I am. I suck at blogging.

We did go in and down Nalorakk (bear) and Akil’zon (eagle) on our first night in ZA. The following week we went back (unfortunately without a full three hours to play, due to the need to finish up Kara) and killed them both again. And theeeeeeen.. the guild broke up.

Most of the blame can be laid on Dan and me, since our play time dropped pretty radically. With us not on (meaning no healers on) people had to PUG healers to run 5-mans and just stopped logging on, really. And signing up for raids. Bothers me a little since we were only missing for like a week, and we both still did all of the guild farming that week. Anyway, AoC came out and I was having fun messing with that, had to play some WAR beta and all of that, but mostly.. been painting. I’d been losing interest in WoW for a few weeks anyway, but was pretty much making myself log on, but as soon as we started painting again it was kind of just like.. fuck it.

Then Deuce left the guild (leaving us pretty in the lurch since he was one of our two tanks). I mean, Dan could have tanked on his war np, he’s got the gear, but then it leaves us a healer short. Anyway, we made the executive decision to just disband and allow people to go to other guilds. Basically everyone who raided with us is well geared enough to get grabbed up by any T4 guild, and a lot of’em could go to any T5 guild they wanted as well. I rather imagine that the officer core (and no, not from lootwhoring, just from playing more) could go to a T6 guild. Dan and I have, however, decided to just quit. We *know* we’d be leaving WoW for WAR when it releases anyway, so what’s the point in dragging out the inevitable? I’d rather just paint up my army.

I have a whopping.. one Bretonnian knight finished at this point. I scrapped the old model with a finished horse and a pair of legs. I’m just not ready for NMM, methinks. I like the model I’ve completed (mostly, I know he could look better but I don’t know how to do it) and I’m working on a new one. He’s finished up to — horse and uh.. one leg. Maybe I’ll finish his other leg and his torso tomorrow :o

Anyway, there’s the crappy me update of uh.. the month.. at the rate I blog at.

Happy Day

May 07th, 2008 | Category: General, Health, Obsession, World of Warcraft

I’m feeling quite happy today. Dan and I have been being very careful with our diet and exercise lately (blame me, want to look extra good when everyone comes out for the big birthday party in August) and, of course, he drops like 5 lbs a day x.x And I.. yanno.. gain weight. Anyway, this morning I was down two lbs from my starting weight (which puts me at 132, for those who are curious to know.. because anyone but Dan reads this :p).

I am planning a delicious feast tonight — we’ll start off with a chilled yogurt soup (with fruit and mustard seeds) and follow it up with lamb kebabs and a dish of spiced garbanzo beans, and then we’ll end the whole meal with some yummy rice pudding. Depending on how much I love the foods, I may or may not post recipes.

In addition to food and weight loss, the guild is doing spectacularly. Last week we downed Netherspite on our first true attempt at him (we attempted him the week before and the instance servers crashed and booted us all out, so I don’t really count that as an attempt). We then proceeded up to Prince and killed him on our second try at him. After that we headed on down to Nightbane (considered by most to be the true boss of Karazhan) and kicked his ass on the first try. Then, this week, we proved it wasn’t a fluke and downed all of them again. Nightbane posed a little bit more trouble this week, but he still went down.

We are also going to make a go at Zul’Aman on Monday (provided we get signups) and see if we can’t down the bear boss. A lot of people seem to have a negative feeling about it, but I’m about 95% certain that the bear *will* die on Monday. After we wipe the floor with his face, we’ll move on to the eagle boss. This will be a bit more iffy (and I hope to god that everyone reads the strat that Dan posted on the forums) as the fight requires a lot of movement and attention to detail. If everyone can keep their acts together, though, I think we’ll be seeing more loot from Zul’Aman ^_^

More medicals and WoW, omg

February 27th, 2008 | Category: General, Health, World of Warcraft

Well, MRI is scheduled — March 5th. And a root canal on the 11th >.< Blah. Not really looking forward to that, but I suppose it needs to be done. As I’ve already said, I’ll update here once I get the results back from the MRI. Hoping that it’s just migraines and low blood pressure, but we shall see.

As to WoW — after much drama with our old guild (and I will not talk too much about that here, since I have no desire to foment drama), I am now somehow a guild leader in my own right. It’s a small guild made up of those of us who managed to get booted from our old guild (all I shall do is assure you that we were definitely in the right), and some people who left RwD before. We have our first Karazhan raid this Sunday! We’ll need to bring along some friends and maybe a PUG or two, but we’re hoping to prevail through sheer force of our awesomeness.

In any case, we have the awesomest name ever, and I’m sure that it will help to ensure our success. It reminds me of the names of some of the old top end EQ guilds. A large part of why I liked the name, I suppose.

Anyway, check out our uber guild site that has like.. no front page :p

Link of the day: Afterlife!

In case I haven’t mentioned it before we are (obviously) on the Rexxar server.

I stink

February 22nd, 2008 | Category: General, Health, Obsession, World of Warcraft

I am so, so awful at posting — truly. I’ll remember to blog for like a week straight, and then not blog at all for a month :p Anyway, lets get caught up here. Health issues, or MMOs first? Lets go for MMOs first, those are more fun.

Dan and I have been playing WoW again. It’s kind of a hard game to get away from, because it’s the only game where you can actually play with people. Playing with people is nice. We’ve been playing for.. a month now? I don’t recall exactly. In any case, we’ve been 70 for two weeks now (after 9ish /played to hit 70) and are enjoying the game immensely. Raiding is quite fun and we’re hoping to get in some real Kara progression with our guild (Running with Daggers). We’ve met some really great people through the guild and are also hoping for tons more heroic runs with them (for badges, of course) before Sunwell!

On to health issues (and I’m sure there will be more WoW updates at some point). If you’ve known me for some time, you probably know that I faint / black out / get dizzy practically every day and that I suffer from near constant headaches. Now that I *finally* have medical insurance other than crappy military care, I went in for a visit to the doctor to see if he can tell me anything other than “well it’s not a thyroid problem”. On a side note, I really really liked this doctor. Dr. Rubbelke for anyone in the Scottsdale area — I swear he spent nearly forty minutes talking to me today and finding out everything he could, and I’m sure anyone who has been to a doctor recently knows that you’re lucky if they spend five minutes with you.

In any case, he gave me a sample of some various migraine medicine to see if any of them clear up my headaches (when I get a really nasty one, not just my normal constant ones), but he doesn’t really know that I’m having migraines right now, since I lack light / noise sensitivity, any tenderness to the touch, and I am not incapacitated by my headaches (although I attribute a lot of that to my high tolerance for pain and my refusal to let a headache get in the way of my life), etc, etc, etc.. Basically I am lacking all of the symptoms of a migraine except for the nasty headache that is unresponsive to medicine :p

So anyway, he’s trying to get me set up (through my insurance company, of course, since they have to approve these things) for an MRI since the combination of headaches and seemingly unconnected black out spells seems strange to him. Anyway, I’ll keep everyone (that being, Ryan and Dan since no one else reads this :p) posted as to when my MRI is and what any results are. I’m sure they’ll discover that my brain has turned into some kind of computer chip to allow me to play MMOs more uberly, and then I’ll become a national wonder.
